‘I went to school on the Isle of Mann, then attended college in Milton Keynes for two years, and then moved to Ayr for about five years. After that, I transferred to Edinburgh Airport to work in the control towers. Coming from an island, living in the city doesn't suit me entirely, but I have come to appreciate Edinburgh. In fact, Edinburgh is a great place to stay.
It's natural and normal for things to change, but I don't like all the changes. It's getting busier all the time. Even flying into Edinburgh last night, I was surprised by how big and bright it looks from the air. All those lights, you know.
The High Street during the Fringe used to be somewhere that was nice to go, but now I don't enjoy it. The Fringe is brilliant, it's just busier now. It's not the way it used to be.
That said, I do enjoy observing the way things change, even if I don't agree with all the changes. There are different perspectives on it, as well. [My daughter] Marianna loves the Fringe. No matter how busy it gets, she likes going to shows, working at different venues. You name it, she's up for it. [My son] Sebastian, on the other hand, always runs a mile from it. I guess it just depends on your outlook, and your personality.'
