‘My dad and I host a radio show called Borrowed Nostalgia on EHFM. It’s a really fun way to share music and memories with my dad, but the real purpose is to highlight the importance of venues and creative spaces in Edinburgh. We talk a lot about how important the Edinburgh arts scene is, not only in August, but all year round.
I worry when hotels open up on or close to the Cowgate. I think, what’s going to happen to the venues if there are noise complaints? What’s going to happen to the pubs?
You want to live somewhere amongst music, amongst art, amongst things to do. I don’t think anyone moves here for the tourist industry. No, you come here for the culture.
It’s sad when physical venues close, but there’s still very visible demand in Edinburgh for live music.’
