‘I moved to Edinburgh to study a blend of Western classical and contemporary music. My experiences here have definitely opened my mind and broadened my perspective as a person and as an artist.
For me, Edinburgh means acceptance and safety. I’ve lived in a number of places throughout my life, and I’ve never found one as inclusive, safe, and accepting of people of all kinds as Edinburgh. I have never felt unsafe or threatened in all my four years here. As someone who occupies multiple marginalised identities, that’s quite a big statement.
I think Victoria Street is most like me as a person. It’s so colourful and vibrant, even in the coldest and darkest months of the year, but it’s also solid and steady, and that’s kind of how I see myself, as someone both fun and reliable.’
