‘I moved to Edinburgh from Spain. I didn’t like it the first time I visited. I remember thinking that it was very dark, very scary. I was like, “I’ll never be able to live here.”
The same year, though, I got a promotion at work, but I didn’t enjoy my job. I rejected it and said I was going to move to the UK, out of nowhere! I went back to my desk and bought the tickets that day. I was like, “So, it’s real now.”
Ultimately, I chose Edinburgh because I had been here before, and because I love history.
Moving to Edinburgh meant the start of a new chapter for me. I left my relationship and my job and moved to Edinburgh with all my savings. The experience taught me that I can rebuild my life somewhere else, that I have the capacity to start from scratch.’
