‘I wanted to work with the Fringe Festival, because I work in the arts, and I thought, this is the mothership of all Fringe Festivals, so why not come here? The Fringe Festival offers the chance to get into the arts scene in a place that takes it seriously.
I make blues and rock music, but I’m also involved with a Fringe show called ‘Mary: A Gig Show’, which is the story of Mary, Queen of Scots. You can’t throw a stone in Edinburgh without hitting a musician. There’s a guy in the Jazz Bar who plays in about seven different bands. It’s a small community.
The city is kind of like a stage in the sense that sometimes it doesn’t feel real. The city is for tourists – It seems performative in a lot of ways. But I guess anything is possible onstage, so it can be both good and bad.’
